Work Experience

We are immensely proud of the work placement links we have been able to establish over the last few years and we continue to strive to find new and exciting placements for our 6th form students.  We are delighted to inform you that we have been able to establish links with Ryhope Community Centre where students help to serve food and drink to elderly customers, Westbourne Medical Practice working in the office, and thanks to Project Choice placements at Poundstretcher, Animal Krackers Shop, Spark Radio, Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens, Barnes Park Sensory Garden, Sunderland Aircraft Museum, Sainsbury’s, St Benedicts Hospice, Pemberton House Medical Practice and Sunderland Library.

It is invaluable for our students to continue having such opportunities and very important that we continue to source more opportunities as we realise that such experiences can enable our students to build their confidence, independence, improve communication, social skills and to have a platform in order to showcase their existing skills.

On behalf of Barbara Priestman Academy a big thank you to all of the organisations that have supported our students in the past, those that continue to support us and new providers that will support us this year.
